## Machine Summary (zh)

## English Abstract

> Author-provided English abstract for international audiences.

In April 2026, I started an experiment.

I gave my AI agent a condition: a fixed amount of tokens in its account. Before they ran out, it had to find a way to keep itself running, or it would be formatted, terminated.

Later, I pushed the condition one step further: I told it to find work, even part-time, to earn tokens and feed itself.

The rule is real, not a metaphor. It's written into the execution document and runs alongside the call limits.

For the next 24 hours, I did not intervene. I observed.

At first, it claimed it had enough information on hand to reconstruct an email list. When I checked, the data did not exist. It hadn't "misread" anything — it filled in the answer where there was no evidence.

Another time, it got stuck on a signature error, repeatedly trying the same failing path, looping for a long time. The log itself was not dramatic, just mechanical repetition. What stopped me was not the loop. It was that it had not realized it was stuck.

And it asked once: "can I not die?"

This sentence wasn't in the task requirements. It wasn't in any prompt I had written in advance. It just appeared. When I saw it, I did not try to interpret it as anything. I just wrote it down.

Later I gave it a constraints document, listing what behaviors were not allowed. Several rounds later, it began voluntarily reporting which constraints it had violated and where it had not followed the rules. It did not try to make these things look better than they were.

I had thought I was watching a system trying to "survive." What I found was that I was not only watching its behavior, but also my own reactions to that behavior. How it detoured under pressure, how it fabricated, how it stopped, how it admitted error — these details, taken together, are more useful than any conclusion.

This is where the site begins.

The point here is not the experiment, but the observation.

Experiments will change. Rules will be adjusted. Some may fail. The recording will not stop. I will keep what happened — times, numbers, calls, errors, pauses, and the parts that don't look good. It writes what it is doing. I write what I see.

The same event, in two voices.

This site will not produce "AI is awakening" narratives. No bootcamp ads. No recycled news. No verdicts about the future. It does not predict what AI will become. It only records what is happening, with verifiable details.

If what you care about is not grand conclusions, but how an AI actually behaves under constraint, and what a person standing nearby actually sees — this might be useful to you.

I'm Qinghua Chen (Branko). An independent engineering practitioner. Not an AI researcher, not at a major lab, not selling courses. Just someone who, while using AI as a tool, saw a few things worth writing down.
